Dr. Bob Ross is the President & CEO of The California Endowment, our state’s largest private health foundation. During his leadership tenure, the foundation has focused on the vision of health coverage for every Californian, as well as health improvement in under-resourced and marginalized communities. During the past decade, the foundation has invested in a statewide, prevention-oriented campaign called Building Healthy Communities — emphasizing the importance of community and civic engagement, grassroots activism, and youth engagement to advance policy and systems change for a healthier California. As the foundation considers its’ next decade of work, one over-arching principle has emerged: there is a powerful relationship between a robust, vibrant democracy, and improved wellness and prosperity for all Californians.
